The following Organization Sanctions have been removed in their entirety. This does not mean that these sanctions cannot be applied to organizations, as this section of the Code is prefaced with: “In addition to the sanctions listed for individual students, the following sanctions will be considered when an Organization is found responsible.”
“Restitution” Reimbursement for a loss caused by the Organization’s actions.
“Restorative Actions” Requirement to engage in actions that attempt to make amends for the negative impact of a violation and repair the harm that resulted from the misconduct. These actions may include activities such as letters of apology, drafting and implementing a plan of resolution, or engaging in restorative justice conferences.
“Disciplinary Probation (Level I)” A period of time during which an Organization is given the opportunity to demonstrate the ability to abide by the community’s minimum expectations of behavior articulated in the Student Code of Conduct. If an Organization is found “responsible” for another violation of the Code during this period, it may result in increased outcomes up to and including suspension or expulsion. An Organization’s members or officers may be required to meet periodically with a Dean (or other University official) during their period of probation.
“Disciplinary Probation (Level II)” A period of time during which an Organization is given the opportunity to demonstrate the ability to abide by the community’s minimum expectations of behavior articulated in the Student Code of Conduct. Any further violation of the Student Code of Conduct puts the Organization’s status with the University in jeopardy. If the student is found “responsible” for another violation of the Code during this period, serious consideration will be given to imposing an outcome of suspension or expulsion
Deferred Suspension of University Recognition: Removal of the organization’s recognition by the University is deferred pending the completion of requirements specified in the decision of the hearing officer or Hearing Panel. An additional finding of responsibility during the suspension period will result in suspension or revocation of University Recognition.
